How Does West Wind Dental Manage Pain During Treatment?

In this video, Dr. Robert Ellis explains how his office customizes anesthesia and uses advanced methods to greatly reduce post-procedure pain and speed recovery.

Pain is different for everyone, so we tailor anesthetic care to each patient’s needs. We use several types of anesthetic, including Septocaine (also called Articaine), which works quickly and effectively through the bone, and small amounts of lidocaine when needed for certain procedures. We also enhance anesthetic with sodium bicarbonate, which helps it work more efficiently and makes numbing more reliable.

For postoperative comfort, we’ve introduced an injectable steroid called dexamethasone. This has been a game changer in our office, reducing post-procedure pain by at least 50%. Patients recover with much less discomfort and usually need far fewer pain medications afterward. We use this approach for everything from large fillings to extractions and dental implants.
