Dental implant technology has advanced, and mini dental implants have made the tooth replacement process much more efficient. Previously, with traditional dental implants, you would have to go to the dentist for multiple procedures spaced out over time.
We used to extract the problematic tooth (if needed) and wait 2-4 months for the socket to heal. Then, Dr. Ellis would create a large incision in the gums, called flap surgery, to screw the traditional implant base into the bone and wait for osseointegration, which takes another 3-6 months. Once the implant site had fully healed, we would secure the new crown, bridge, or denture in place.
Dr. Ellis performed these procedures for many years—until something better came along.
