What Are the Best Options for Replacing Several Missing Teeth?
In this video, Dr. Robert Ellis explains how mini dental implants are used to replace multiple teeth, from placement and healing to the final restoration that looks and functions like natural teeth.
Mini dental implants are especially effective when replacing multiple teeth. Because of their smaller diameter, we can mimic nature: for example, a molar typically has two or three roots, so we’ll often place two mini implants in that area. For single-rooted front teeth, we usually place one implant.
In cases where several teeth are missing, we commonly place three to four mini implants. These are left to heal for about 4–8 weeks, depending on whether the teeth were just extracted or had been missing for a longer time. We then test the implants, ensure they’re solid, and take a digital impression. About 10 days later, your custom crown or fixed bridge is ready, and we permanently secure it in place. At that point, it looks, feels, and functions like your own natural teeth.
