How Do Dentists Use L-PRF for Healing?

In this video, Marissa Ellis walks through how PRF is created from your own blood and how it’s used during oral surgery to aid healing.

Here’s how the process works: First, we draw a small amount of your blood. We usually take two to four vials, each only filled about halfway. Those tubes are then placed in a centrifuge, which spins for about 15 minutes to separate the blood into three layers.

From that, we use the PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) membrane along with your serum. Both are incorporated into the bone graft material or applied directly to the surgical site to support healing.
