What Types of Dental Sedation Are Available?

In this video, Dr. Robert Ellis explains the different sedation options available in his office, from nitrous oxide to IV sedation, and how they help patients stay comfortable during treatment.

At our office, we offer several options to help patients feel comfortable during treatment. For mild relaxation, we provide nitrous oxide (laughing gas) upon request. We can also prescribe Valium, which helps reduce anxiety, though patients must arrange for someone to drive them to and from the appointment.

For patients who need a deeper level of comfort, we also provide IV sedation. In these cases, a nurse anesthetist comes in to monitor your sedation, heart rate, and overall safety while I focus on your dental care. As I like to joke, it’s their job to keep you safe, and my job to fix your teeth.

If you or someone you love is interested in learning more about our sedation dentistry options, contact Dr. Robert Ellis in Rigby, ID, for a free consultation to learn how our life-changing treatments can enhance your smile, improve your function, and restore your self-confidence.
