Can You Get a Dental Implant the Same Day as a Tooth Extraction?

In this video, Dr. Robert Ellis explains how immediate implant placement works, why it shortens recovery, and when it can be the right choice after a tooth extraction.

Immediate placement means we remove a tooth and place the implant on the very same day. Our office does this regularly, and we’ve had success with both traditional and mini dental implants. The key is preserving as much bone as possible during the extraction. If there’s enough bone left, we can place the implant right away.

The main benefit is that you only go through one healing process. The bone heals directly around the implant, which shortens recovery time and allows us to place your new tooth sooner. Without immediate placement, you would need to wait 4–6 months after the extraction for the bone to heal before we could place the implant.
