Does Insurance Cover Implant Dentures?

Coverage really depends on your individual plan. For example, Medicaid typically pays for extractions and for making upper and lower dentures, but it does not cover implants or the cost of retrofitting a denture with implant housings. Most insurance companies will cover extractions, some will contribute toward dentures, and a few may cover part of implant treatment.

Dental insurance works more like a benefit than true insurance. You pay a monthly premium, and in return, you receive a set annual allowance (usually between $1,000 and $5,000 per year) that can be applied to approved services. Because of this limit, many patients split their treatment between two calendar years to maximize their benefits.
