Implant Dentures in Idaho Falls, ID

West Wind Dental in Rigby provides affordable implant dentures to patients in Idaho Falls and throughout Eastern Idaho

Enjoying mealtimes, speaking confidently, and smiling without hesitation should all come naturally. But for many people with dentures (or those who need them), it doesn’t always work out that way. Loose dentures can slip, making it hard to eat your favorite foods or feel comfortable around others.

At West Wind Dental, we believe that no one should have to live that way. Implant dentures offer a simple, reliable solution that restores comfort and stability. With mini dental implants placed throughout your jaw, your dentures can feel secure again. And with that security comes the ability to enjoy everyday moments like sharing a meal with family or chatting with friends without thinking about your teeth.

We’ve seen firsthand how life-changing this treatment can be, and it’s a privilege to bring that care to our neighbors. As a Mini Dental Implant Center of America (MDICA), we make innovative dental implant treatments accessible to those throughout Eastern Idaho.

Why Choose Implant Dentures?

If you’ve lived with traditional dentures, you probably know the challenges dentures bring. They can slip, click, or require messy adhesives just to get through a meal. Implant dentures are different. They’re supported by mini dental implants that we place in your jawbone. As a result, implant-supported dentures give you a stable, comfortable fit that feels much closer to having natural teeth.

With that stability comes freedom. You’ll be able to eat food like steak, corn on the cob, and apples again. Beyond eating, you’ll notice that newfound freedom in the little things: speaking more clearly, showing your teeth when you smile, and laughing without a second thought.

Implants also support your long-term oral health. Thanks to their integration with the jawbone, they prevent the bone from shrinking over time (something traditional dentures can’t do). And because they’re designed with durable materials, implant dentures offer a long-term solution you can count on.

For many of our patients, this treatment has been life-changing. It’s not just about having new teeth. It’s about getting back the simple joys of everyday life.

3 Types of Implant Dentures at West Wind Dental

Every patient is different, and so are their goals. Some people want a simple way to keep their dentures from slipping. Others want a stronger, more permanent solution that feels almost identical to natural teeth. At West Wind Dental, we offer three main types of implant dentures so you can choose what fits your needs, lifestyle, and budget.

Snap-In Dentures (Removable)

Snap-in dentures are one of the most affordable ways to stabilize loose dentures. We place 4-8 mini dental implants in the jaw, and fit your denture with little housings that “snap” onto the implants. This gives you a secure fit that won’t slide around when you eat or talk.

Most patients remove their snap-in dentures at night for cleaning, but many feel comfortable wearing them 24/7. Because they’re made from acrylic, these dentures typically last 7 to 10 years before needing replacement. For patients who have struggled with slipping or sore spots from regular dentures, this option can be truly life-changing.

Semi-Removable Roundhouse Bridge

A semi-removable roundhouse bridge is made of porcelain, which makes it stronger, longer-lasting, and more natural-looking than an acrylic denture. With 6-10 more implants, it provides even more stability.

With this option, also known as Fix-on-Six®, you won’t need to remove the restoration yourself. Instead, Dr. Ellis removes it during your checkups, cleans it thoroughly, replaces the O-rings that fit onto the implants, and then secures it back in place.

Fixed Roundhouse Bridge (Permanent)

The fixed roundhouse bridge is the most natural and durable option we offer. This restoration is made of full ceramic and anchored securely with a few more multiple mini dental implants. Once it’s in place, it stays put. You’ll treat it just like natural teeth.

This option provides the best chewing power, the longest lifespan, and the most natural appearance. For patients who want a lifelong solution and the closest possible experience to having their own teeth again, the fixed roundhouse bridge is hard to beat.

Denture Stabilization: Converting Your Existing Denture

If you already wear dentures, we can often place mini dental implants and adapt your existing denture to snap onto them. This process, which we call denture fixation or denture stabilization, involves retrofitting your current denture.

We can place your implants and make the necessary alterations to your denture at the same visit. That means you leave our office with a denture that feels more secure right away.

There is one important thing to keep in mind. When your denture is supported by implants, you’ll be able to chew with much more strength than before. If your current denture is made of older acrylic, it may not hold up to this new pressure over time. In that case, we may recommend remaking your denture with a reinforced base that’s designed to handle the added bite force.

Patients who make the switch to implant-supported dentures are often amazed at the difference. Life can feel simpler with a denture that doesn’t slip or shift.

The Implant Denture Process

Most patients tell us the process of getting implant dentures at West Wind Dental is much easier than they imagined and that the results are well worth it.

Step 1: Your Free Consultation

We start with a visit that includes a 3D CBCT scan. This lets us see the quality of your jawbone and plan exactly where to place the implants. We’ll also talk through your goals so we can recommend the option that’s the best fit for you.

Step 2: Implant Placement and Temporary Denture

If you need extractions, we can often remove the teeth and place the implants in the same appointment. You’ll leave that day with a temporary denture, so you never have to go without teeth.

If we’re retrofitting your current denture, we’ll place the implants, add special housings to the bottom of your denture, and secure it before you leave.

Step 3: Healing and Check-Ins

Over the next few weeks, your gums and implants will heal. We’ll see you regularly during this time to make sure everything feels right and is healing as expected.

Step 4: Your Final Implant Dentures

Once you’ve healed, we’ll transition you into your long-term denture. This may be a new acrylic snap-in denture, a semi-removable porcelain bridge, or a fixed ceramic roundhouse. We’ll make sure your bite feels comfortable, your smile looks natural, and you’re happy with the result before finalizing it.

Frequently Asked Questions

All-on-4® is a well-known approach for full-mouth rehab. It uses four traditional dental implants to support a full arch of teeth. While it can work well, the risk is that if even one implant fails, the whole arch is compromised. That’s like building a house on four support beams: if one gives way, the whole structure is in trouble.

Fix-on-Six® is different. It uses six (sometimes more) mini dental implants, which provide extra strength and stability. If one implant doesn’t hold up, the others keep everything secure. This gives you more peace of mind and a longer-lasting result.

At West Wind Dental, we appreciate having that backup for our patients because our goal is always to provide a solution built to last.

We know the idea of dental implants can sound intimidating, but most patients are surprised by how comfortable the process is.

We numb the area completely before getting started, and to make the numbing shot easier, we can buffer the anesthetic with sodium bicarbonate. This takes away that stinging burn that many people dislike.

We also use L-PRF (a healing material made from your own blood) and give dexamethasone to reduce inflammation.

Together, these steps help minimize discomfort and speed up recovery. Our patients often say the experience was much easier than they expected, and the relief and stability they get afterward make it well worth it.

Most plans cover at least part of the treatment. Medicaid, for example, usually pays for extractions and denture fabrication, but not for the implants themselves.

Many private plans will cover extractions and part of the denture cost, but only some will help with implants.

Dental benefits usually range from $1,000 to $5,000 per year, so patients often split treatment between two calendar years to stretch coverage further.

We also offer financing through several dental-specific companies. They do a soft credit check and make it simple to set up affordable monthly payments, so cost doesn’t stand in the way of getting the care you need.
